Last week, in my post titled “Twitter Cards – Turn Your Interest Graph Into A Rich Experience“, I reviewed all of the different types of Twitter Cards available to brands. Today I want to detail all of the paid advertising opportunities that currently exist with Twitter.
Below is a list of the three major ways a brand may pay to promote Tweets and Twitter accounts. Given the flurry of new ad products & targeting methods from Twitter over the last several months, I have tried to detail not only what is currently available but also what is in Beta (tv ad targeting – note: My contact at Twitter just told me that this is transferring out of Beta as of today!) and what is in development (retargeting and radius based geo-fence targeting).
The opportunity for brands to offer rich Tweets via Twitter Cards and and promote those Tweets in a real-time manner via Twitter Advertising is a massive opportunity. CMO’s should begin to take the necessary steps to ensure BOTH tactics are part of their marketing mix moving forward.
